A character that grows with what you do

Six attributes grow from your quests, Side Quests and raids. A workout raises Strength and reading raises Intellect. Rest days never lower them.

  • Strength

    Your body's power

    Trained by Fitness quests

  • Vitality

    Looking after your body

Trained by Health, sleep, water, food, walking and stretching quests

  • Craft

    Skill with your hands

Trained by Creative, cooking and cleaning quests

  • Intellect

    Learning and focus

Trained by Study, reading and productivity quests

  • Wisdom

    Calm and knowing yourself

Trained by Meditation, mindfulness, journaling, gratitude and self-care quests

  • Charisma

    Showing up for others

Trained by Every raid check-in, and any quest you set to train it

A quest trains up to two attributes. Its tags suggest them, and you can change them. Each Side Quest trains the attribute of its prompt.

With cloud backup on, your journal counts too: an entry trains Wisdom, logged sleep trains Vitality, and buffs like Friends or Family train Charisma.

CheckMate attribute tree for Vitality, with the class at level 3 and titles at levels 5, 10, 15 and 20

Class and titles

When your two strongest attributes both reach level 3, they set your class. There are 15, like Ironheart, Bard, Sage and Druid. Each attribute has its own tree with titles at levels 5, 10, 15 and 20, and you pick one to show on your profile.

CheckMate character sheet with the Druid class and a level for each of the six attributes

Your character sheet

The sheet shows all six attributes with their levels, your class and the title you chose. Level 10 in an attribute also unlocks a frame for your avatar.

CheckMate Your week scroll: a hexagon of last week's attribute gains and a note from Misa

A look back at your week

After a week with gains, a sealed scroll waits on Home on Monday. It shows what each attribute gained, a note from Misa, and a shortcut for an attribute that rested.

Undo is exact. Uncheck a quest and it takes back what checking gave: the XP, the level, the attribute XP and, if it was that day's only check-in, the day shown up.

In your language, your way

The CheckMate language picker with English, Español, Deutsch, Português (Brasil), Français and Italiano

7 languages

English, Español, Deutsch, Português (Brasil), Français, Italiano and Polski. Change it in Settings or on the sign-in screen. Each language has its own Notice Board.

Sign in your way

Use Google, Apple on iPhone and iPad, or email. Next time, the account you used before is one tap away.

Easy to read

Light, Dark or Auto, plus a High Contrast switch. Three text sizes, the OpenDyslexic font, and Reduce Motion.

A habit tracker built around real life

Habits become quests. Friends become your party.

CheckMate is a gamified habit tracker for people who want motivation without punishment. Plan a small daily quest, check it off for XP and grow the attribute it trains, focus alongside other players, or turn a shared goal into a co-op raid.

Daily quests, not a rigid routine

Schedule a habit every day, on weekdays, on weekends, on the days you pick, or once. Each check-in earns XP, and rarer quests earn more.

Rest days cost nothing

A missed day never lowers your days shown up or your attributes, and there's no HP to lose. Only undo takes something back: uncheck a quest and it returns exactly what checking gave.

Accountability you can share

Invite friends into a co-op raid with one daily goal, or join a focus room. Your party carries you on the hard days, and you carry them on theirs.

The story

The developer with Misa and Putica

Built by one ADHD brain, two cats with opinions, and a fiancée who checks I'm still alive when the hyperfocus hits 20 hours.

No investors, no big team. Just us, and each of them helps in their own way.

Why this exists

I grew up being told what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. For years I assumed that was the only way: follow someone else's system, stick to someone else's rules.

Got diagnosed with ADHD recently, but I'd lived with it my whole life without knowing. Finally understood what was going on: why my head feels like five radio stations playing at once.

Best thing I learned was to stop fighting it. When something grabs me (this project, electronics, sim racing, drawing), I just go. Used to think the hyperfocus was a problem. Turns out it's how I get anything done.

One day at a time

You don't need a long run of perfect days to improve. You just need today. Every action you take, however small, moves you forward.

Your path

Everyone is different. That's why CheckMate doesn't force one approach. Simple quests for daily wins. Adventures with others when you need that energy. A private journal when you need to reflect. Pick what works, ignore what doesn't.

You are enough. Your path is yours. Never compare it to anyone else's.
