Delete your CheckMate account or data
Last updated: 23 October 2026
1. Delete your account in the app
- Open CheckMate and tap the gear icon at the top of the screen to open Settings.
- Scroll down to Danger Zone and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm. If you signed up with a password, enter it and tap Permanently Delete Account.
Your account and its data are deleted right away. This can’t be undone.
2. Delete your account without the app
Write to [email protected] from the email address on your account, with the subject “Delete my account”. If you can’t write from that address (for example, you signed in with Apple and hid your email), tell us your username and we’ll check it’s you. We delete the account within 30 days and reply when it’s done.
3. What is deleted
- Your account and sign-in details.
- Your profile: display name, username, avatar, frame and bio.
- Your quests, check-ins, XP, levels, attributes, titles and badges.
- Your friends and friend requests, and your place in raids and focus rooms.
- Quests you posted on the Notice Board.
- Your journal cloud backup and its photos.
- Your push notification tokens.
On the phone you delete from, the app also erases the journal and the other data it keeps on the device.
4. What is kept, and for how long
- Raids you created stay for the people in them, without your name.
- Moderation reports and our internal logs can keep an account ID that no longer leads to your name or email address.
- Records already sent to our service providers are deleted on their own schedule: analytics events within 2 years, crash reports within 90 days and ad measurement data at Google within 14 months. Write to us if you want them deleted sooner.
- Purchase records are kept by Apple, Google and RevenueCat for as long as the law requires.
5. Delete some of your data and keep your account
- Journal backup on our servers: Settings › Delete Cloud Backup removes your journal entries and photos from our servers. The journal on your phone stays.
- Journal on your phone: Settings › Delete Local Entries.
- Single journal entries or quests: delete them in the app. A quest’s check-ins go with it.
- Profile: change or clear your display name, avatar and bio in Edit profile.
- Ad measurement (Android, from CheckMate 2.0): turn it off in Settings › Profile & Privacy.
- Anything else: write to [email protected] and say what you want deleted. We answer within one month.
More about how we handle your data is in the privacy policy.
